CHILDREN and staff at a primary school are celebrating after being awarded an outstanding Ofsted rating.

The headteacher at Oundle Primary School Janet McMurdo said she was delighted because at the previous inspection the school was rated good with outstanding features.

She said: “Everyone associated with Oundle Primary has been working so hard to achieve this distinction.

“The children have always been a credit to us and this has been a key factor in our success.

“At our previous Ofsted inspection, we were rated as good with outstanding features and we were determined to go one better this time. The award is partly the result of consistent teaching but with the careful use of state-of-the-art technology.”

Canon Richard Ormston, vicar at St Peter’s Church in Oundle, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this recognition for our church school. We enjoy an excellent relationship with them.

“As governor for the past 10 years, it’s been my privilege to see such hard work from teachers and pupils firsthand. These awards are thoroughly deserved.”
