YOUNGSTERS combined African and Scottish dances to advanced to the national final of a Red Cross competition.

Langham Primary School pupils took part in the East Midlands Heat of Dance: Make Your Move at the Melton Theatre on Tuesday last week.

Their dance told a story of a Maasai tribe who were happily dancing in front of their house when disaster struck and a British Red Cross team went armed with parcels and friendship and taught the Maasai tribe a Scottish dance which left both sets of dancers with lasting friendship.

Headteacher Janet Lord said: “I was overwhelmed when I saw their beaming smiles as the winners for the junior section were announced.”

The school also raised more than £150 for the Red Cross with a wear red to school day.
