THE Lord Lieutenant of Rutland dropped into a primary school to talk to pupils about the Queen’s diamond jubilee and the royal picnic which is due to take place at Burghley House in Stamford today (Wednesday).

The school choir and orchestra at Catmose Primary School in Oakham entertained Dr Laurence Howard during his visit. The school sang the national anthem following an interesting talk given by Dr Howard.

Vice principal Kelly Jackson said: “It was wonderful to welcome the Lord Lieutenant.

“He particularly enjoyed our jubilee art on display in the hall and remarked how smart the pupils look in their new uniform.”
