STUDENTS at New College Stamford were given a special military lesson by Royal Marine recruits.

Three marines and a recruitment officer from the force’s Eastern Region were on hand to talk to a group of students on Friday.

They spoke about their daily routines, gave advice on jobs and qualifications within the force, and held a marines’ circuit in the college’s sports hall.

Students also asked questions about their roles and life in the armed forces, as well as completing a psychometric aptitude test which is used as entry into the force.

Lecturer Kirsty Smith said: “All 28 students who took part worked very well and hopefully took something away from the experience.

“The college is always looking to provide guest speakers and experience days like these from all the forces. With thanks to the Royal Marines recruitment team, students and staff, the morning was a great success.”
