ORNITHOLOGISTS of all ages enjoyed learning about birds last week.

Officers from the RSPB centre at Top Lodge in Fineshade Woods were in Cutts Close, Oakham, to educate people about our feathered friends.

They set up a marquee where there was a range of craft activities for youngsters, as well as telescopes and binoculars for adults to see the birds in the town centre.

There was also a display of moths, which had been caught in a live trap each night, and shown before being released, unharmed.

Visitor and promotions officer Chris Andrews said it had been a good week.

He said: “As always, the RSPB staff and volunteers were happy to chat to the public about how to encourage more wildlife into their gardens.”
