A marvellous time was had by all at Malcolm Sargent Primary School’s Summer Fayre.

Teachers, staff, parents and children all gave up their time and got stuck in during the school fair, which was held on Saturday.

Communications officer for the Parent Teacher Friends Association (PTFA) Kim Wilkinson said the weather was a “bit unkind” but that it didn’t deter visitors.

She said: “We had children in their T-shirts and wellies dancing in the rain with their faces painted. There was a real festival atmosphere.

“We’ve been very lucky to have fantastic support from the local business community this year, including our fabulous sponsors Knight Partnership, and we really can’t thank everyone enough for their generosity.

“We even had a visit from Rutland Radio’s Rob Persani, who kindly did a shift on the PA system.”

The event raised more than £3,000.

Recently the PTFA have funded some fantastic new facilities for the school, including a new IT suite and iPads for classrooms, as well as educational visits from a mobile planetarium and life
bus.
