A man attempting to break the land speed record has spoken to Bourne pupils about his plans.

Pupils from Bourne Academy attended RAF College Cranwell’s annual Sir Isaac Newton Lecture given by Wing Commander Andy Green who hopes to drive the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car more than 1,000 miles per hour.

Wing Cdr Green plans to drive the car at the Hakskeen Pan in South Africa in 2015 but, while he hopes to take the land speed record, he told the young audience of Lincolnshire pupils his main objective was to showcase science, technology, engineering and mathematics and inspire and motivate the next generation of scientists.
