TEENAGERS from The Deepings School helped to inspire younger sporty children when they hosted a netball tournament.

Ten of the school’s sixthform pupils hosted the event as part of a leadership course they are currently studying.

Teams of youngsters from five schools in the area - Langtoft Primary School, Deeping St James Primary School, Market Deeping Primary School, William Hildyard Primary School and Linchfield Primary School - took part.

They all played a match against each other and it was a tough battle for first place, but following a draw on points, the children from Langtoft Primary School took the title on goal difference.

Sixthform pupil Joe Hughes, 16, was one of the event organisers. He said: “We didn’t have any of our teachers there so the whole event was down to us. The tournament ran really smoothly and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves.”

About 50 Year 5 and 6 children took part in the competition.
