YOUNGSTERS had a great time competing in a netball tournament.
Seven primary schools from Stamford and the surrounding area showed off their ball skills during the tournament last week.
Stamford Queen Eleanor School hosted the competition.
The teams were made-up of seven pupils from the following primary schools: St Gilbert’s, St George’s, St Augustine’s, Malcolm Sargent, Bluecoat, Uffington and The Bythams.
Youngsters were given a chance to rotate around the court to try the different positions.
During the two-hour tournament, all seven teams were given a chance to play each other.
The tournament was won by players from St Augustine’s with St Gilbert’s as runners-up.
Pupils from Queen Eleanor acted as officials and umpires in the tournament.
Netball England and Lincolnshire development officer Louise Key attended the event.
One of the organisers Ann Bennett, sports co-ordinator at Stamford Queen Eleanor School, said the tournament was a culmination of a winter league won by St Augustine’s.
She said: “It all went very well.”
