Singing pupils have new shirts to wear when performing thanks to a supermarket chain.

Sainsbury’s in Exeter Street, Bourne, has sponsored the purchase of the long sleeved shirts for pupils in
the jazz band and choir at Bourne Westfield Primary Academy.

Both groups have had success recently as they won prizes at the Bourne Rotary Young Musician competition and in the eastern area final, which was held in Thrapston on Saturday.

Supported by a large group of family and friends the jazz band executed a musical rendition from Grease along with Boogie Blues.

The choir sang Lean on Me and Hallelujah.

Sainsbury’s store manager Nikki Richardson said: “We are really proud to be able to support Bourne Westfield with the Rotary Young Musician Competition and are delighted to hear about their success.”

School music co-ordinator Rebecca Beavis thanked the store for its support.
