A primary school and pre-school came together to hold a joint summer fete for the first time in Langtoft on Saturday.

Langtoft Primary School and Langtoft Pre-school held the joint event in their respective grounds.

The pre-school, which is a registered charity, raised about £300 by running a men’s 5-a-side football tournament and fun day with stalls, bouncy castle, swing boats, bar and barbecue food.

One of the organisers from the pre-school Lynette Sangiorgio said: “It was very hot but we had a nice turnout and fun was had by all.”

The pre-school was raising funds to go towards building a child friendly exit, like a slide, to go from the pre-school into the garden to encourage free flow play.

At the same time the primary school held a traditional school fete with rides, stalls and refreshments.

Friends of Langtoft School chairman Karen Thomas said: “It went really well. It was really well attended and we are still counting the pennies to find out how much we raised. But we have raised quite a considerable amount of money because we had really good support.

“I want to thank all the parents for bringing their children along because without them it wouldn’t happen.”

The Friends of the school are raising money to provide a quiet garden area in the school grounds to allow the pupils to get away from the main playground.
