PEOPLE got the chance to look around a new school on Saturday.

The doors to the new Oakham CE Primary School in Burley Road, Oakham, were open for the day to give people the chance to see the work that contractors Willmott Dixon Construction have carried out.

Headteacher Joan Gibson said she was delighted with the response to the open day.

She said: “There seemed to be hundreds and hundreds of people looking around over the course of the day.

“We had some good feedback - everyone seemed very pleased with what we have achieved and the facilities we have.”

Lessons will start at the school, which also incorporates The Parks School and The Ark Family Centre, on Thursday when the pupils return from their summer break.
