THE SOUND of music filled Oakham Castle as primary school children performed to an audience there.

Members of Oakham’s Afternoon WI group invited children from Brooke Hill Academy to sing at their final meeting of 2011 on Thursday afternoon last week.

Twenty children from Year 4 volunteered to take part in the event and spent time choosing a selection of nine of their favourite songs to perform for their audience.

The show lasted for around 15 minutes and was enjoyed by the group members and the performers.

Class teacher Kath Rolinson said: “The children enjoyed themselves enormously - particularly the drinks and biscuits at the end of their performance!

“The audience were also very smiley and receptive so everyone had a good time.”

The songs included Michael Finnegan, I Once Saw an Elephant, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and We Wish You a Merry Christmas.
