Pupils at The Bythams Primary School are celebrating after winning a trophy for their chunky funky chicken soup.

The school took part in The Winter Warmer Soup Challenge, organised by the East of England Showground Society. The competition was part of the Countryside Ambassador Scheme and challenged pupils to design a soup using local ingredients.

The school entered two groups of five pupils, aged between eight and 10.

The winning group, which also received book vouchers, managed to beat off entries from other primary schools across Peterborough and South Kesteven.

Teaching assistant Bridget Lovesey, who runs the school’s Let’s Get Cooking club, said: “It has helped to inspire more cooking in school and the pupils now have a taste for success.”
