Primary school sports teams have been celebrating success in a range of competitions.

Netball, athletics and Quicksticks hockey teams from St Gilbert’s Primary School in Stamford took part in the Lincolnshire Winter School Games at Grantham Meres Leisure Centre at the start of the month.

Each team performed well but the standouts were the netball players, who won all four of their matches and took home the winners’ trophy.

Teams have also been successful in the Stamford schools leagues, with the Year 3/4 rugby and Year 5/6 netball players winning their respective competitions while the Year 3/4 tennis team finished second.

Key Stage 2 PE co-ordinator Sarah Dickson said: “Many of these children were members of the teams last year so they have practiced hard over the last 12 months, have shown dedication, determination and passion for their sport.

“They always work as a team, supporting each other and showing commitment.”
