A SCHOOL reading group has been held up as an example of its positive links with a church.

St Gilbert’s Primary School in Foundry Road, Stamford had its official church schools inspection recently and was found to be outstanding in all areas.

The Church of England school’s pupils showed “exemplary” behaviour, according to the inspector, and the report highlighted the links between the school and All Saints Church.

One example of the link was the Really Reading Group, where church volunteers visit the school to help children learn to read.

Head Claire Thorley said: “I’m proud of the strong partnerships we have with those outside of school.”
