PRIMARY school pupils were shocked to learn they were the winners of a road safety quiz.

The annual quiz run by Rutland County Council took place in December and the winners were St Mary and St John Primary School in North Luffenham where Year 5 and 6 pupils were recently awarded their cup.

Headteacher at North Luffenham Sam Morton said: “The look on the children’s faces when they won was fantastic.

“They worked so hard towards it and it is a subject that is close to our hearts.”

Portfolio holder for road safety, Coun Roger Begy (Con) said: “This is a really good way of engaging children with the topic of road safety in a fun and interesting way.”
