YOUNGSTERS took to the crease for an inter-school kwik cricket tournament.

Pupils from Malcolm Sargent, St George’s, St Augustine’s, St Gilbert’s and Bluecoats primary schools took part in the event at Burghley Park Cricket Club in Stamford on Wednesday last week.

Year 5 and 6 pupils faced off against each other in the Stamford schools contest, while Year 5 pupils from Grantham schools took part in a separate competition.

The tournament was organised by Stamford Queen Eleanor School sports co-ordinator Anne Bennett and Year 10 sports leaders from the school took the umpiring roles.

Anne said: “The weather was superb and the cricket matched it.”

The Stamford tournament was won by the St Gilbert’s team.
