PUPILS at Stamford Queen Eleanor School have been taking part in a wheelchair basketball challenge.
The programme is an on-going initiative set up by the NHS and Lincolnshire Sports Partnership to help raise awareness about disability sport.
PE teacher Steve Bull said: “Our students took part in this programme last year, and it was so successful that the school was granted the use of the specially designed wheelchairs again this year.
“The inclusive and refreshing nature of the programme has captured the students’ imagination and interest and is proving to be extremely popular with all year groups.
“The vast majority of students will experience what it is like to take part in the increasingly popular sport by participating during lessons and at lunchtime practices”.
Mark Eyre, the wheel-chair sports development officer at the Lincolnshire Sports Partnership, is visiting the school every Friday to coach students in the sport.
