A ROTARY club wants to attract new members.

The Rotary Club of Stamford St Martins is holding a meeting at the Crown Hotel in All Saints Place, Stamford, at 7.30pm on February 21.

Rotarians will speak about what the club does and there will be a talk from Group Captain Hill, from RAF Wittering, about the future of the forces in the Stamford area.

The club hopes the event will attract a range of new members and dispel the idea that Rotarians are predominantly retired men.

Club president Steve Fraser said: “The club has a good relationship with the other Rotary Clubs in both Stamford and further afield, but we like to think that we do things a bit differently and that we are more relaxed and informal.”

Mr Fraser said the club has a wide range of male and female members ranging in age from their 20s to 70s.

Some join the club to meet new like minded people, others as a way of putting something back into the community. The club’s motto is “Fun with a purpose” and its aim is to give something back to the community while having fun doing so.
