A TALENTED pianist won a silver medal in an international competition.
Emily Branson, 13, from Hall Lane, Wittering, took part in the sixth Mozart International Piano Competition in Rome in May.
Emily, a pupil at the King’s School in Peterborough, got 93 out of 100 for her recital which secured second place in the 13 to 16 class.
She competed against 14 children from all over the world.
Mother Katherine said: “Emily found out about the competition through her piano teacher Ann Ward, who is inspirational.
“This is the second time she has entered, and she came third two years ago.
“We had a chance to go round Rome and do some sightseeing, which was fun. I’m very proud of her.”
Emily is now doing her piano diploma, which is the next step up from Grade 8, and is aiming for Grade 6 in singing.
She has performed at Music in Lyddington before.
Emily also won the HRH Duchess of Gloucester prize at Oundle Festival in April.
