Scores of youngsters gave it their all in a Kwik Cricket tournament at Stamford School this morning (Friday).
Bats and balls were out in force for the competition in which a number of local teams took part.
Peterborough Town Cricket Club were the eventual winners, narrowly beating Oakham by four runs in the final watched by hundreds of spectators.
Oakham captain James Tattersall, nine, said: “I’m really proud of all the players for getting to the final.”
Oakham coach Matthew Drakard said: “We batted and bowled well but we were unlucky. We lost to a good bowling team.
“It’s just been great to take part today. All the boys have really enjoyed themselves.”
The Kwik Cricket match was part of the Dean Headley Invitation XI versus Professional Cricketers’ Association England Masters including Andrew “Freddie” Flintoff, David Lloyd aka Bumble, Herschelle Gibbs and many other former international stars.
