One couple are creating a buzz in their garden by making it bee-friendly.

Vic and Gabrielle Arnold, of Normanton Road, Edith Weston, were among the first entrants to Rutland Friends of the Earth’s bee-friendly garden competition.

The contest has been set to encourage people to attract bees to their gardens and will be judged by award-winning designer Adam Frost, with £150 up for grabs for the winner.

Mr and Mrs Arnold, pictured above, have only recently started adapting their garden but have already introduced winter aconites, grape hyacinths and daffodils.

Rutland Friends of the Earth spokesman Gabrielle Maughan said: “If you have a garden, however small, but which has flowering plants most of the year, you could win our prize.”
