AN explorer who has almost completed her cycle ride across China has been reflecting on the state of the Chinese economy.
Sarah Outen, 26, from Ashwell is currently four-and-a-half months into an epic journey across the world using manpower alone.
She kayaked from London across the English Channel and has cycled across Europe and Asia.
The former Stamford High School pupil is currently headed for Beijing and the east coast of China.
From there she will kayak across to Japan.
On her blog she wrote: “Having cycled nearly the whole way across this country now, through Xinjiang, Gansu and Inner Mongolia - provinces which are playing both key roles in this development and also facing some massive environmental challenges – I have seen first hand a country locked in a battle.”
