PUPILS are taking care of nine chicks which have hatched at Exton and Greetham Primary School in Exton.

The new arrivals hatched from eggs donated by the Living Eggs chicken hatching programme, which is designed to educate children in how chicks come into the world.

All pupils in the school spent some time looking after the chicks and were able to handle them and learn about their lives.

Headteacher Kathy Whitehead said: “The children love watching them grow.

“It’s good for their life science course. The chicks grow so quickly so the children have a chance to see it first hand.”

The chicks have now gone home with one of the children’s parents.
