A SEASON of festive forest celebrations is beginning at Fineshade Wood.
The Forestry Commission is putting on its annual Festive Fair at the wood on Sunday next week.
A winter wonderland will spring up in the middle of the wood, complete with husky cart rides, an award-winning Women’s Institute choir, roasted chestnuts, Christmas tree sales, a forest craft fair, a hug a husky welfare stand and for a touch of the unusual a fully fledged Viking re-enactment.
Children, adults and pet dogs can also take part in a fancy dress competition with prizes for the best costumes.
Visitor services manager Sarah Walker said: “We are very excited about the festivities this year; there really is something for everyone.
“And if you’re looking for a more unusual Christmas present this year, give the gift of the forest with a Discovery Pass annual membership with benefits such as a regular newsletter, discounts for shops and activities on and off site and free car parking.”
The event will begin at 10am and will continue until 4pm.
