AN autumn fete raised more than £1,300 towards the maintenance of a village playing field and barn at the weekend.
About 400 visitors attended the annual event which took place on the Brudenell Playing Field in Baston on Sunday afternoon.
The fete, organised by the Brudenell Playing Field Management Committee, included many attractions such as a car boot sale, welly wanging, a vegetable competition, flower arrangements, tombola, refreshments and a barbecue.
Committee chairman Antony Squires, of Colton Close, Baston, was delighted with the amount raised and said it was a great result.
He said: “We had lots of people turn up and the weather was good too.
“It was a nice opportunity to get everyone in the village together in one place.”
Mr Squires thanked everyone who visited the fete on the day, as well as those who supported it and helped out.
He said: “A special thanks goes to Grace Butler and Trudi Clements too.
“They really pulled it all together.”
