Monday 4.30am: AN 800 tonne heap of scrap metal and plastic is still burning, three days after it caught fire.

One fire crew remains on the scene at BW Riddle’s scrapyard in South Fen Road, Bourne, dealing with the blaze which started at about 1pm on Friday.

South Fen Road was still closed at its junctions with Cherry Holt Road, Bourne, and Counter Drain Drove, Tongue End, this morning (Monday) as smoke continued to drift over South Fen Road.

The fire service has not identified a cause for the blaze and there is no indication how long it will take to put out.
