SIX businesses will take each other on in a charity cricket tournament to help fund an appeal for a young boy with a rare form of kidney disease.

Organised by Barclays and Kidney Research UK, the tournament will be a series of short matches at Uppingham Town Cricket Club in Leicester Road, Uppingham, on Wednesday.

Each business has pledged £150 to take part, with additional fundraising on the day expected to help raise about £1,500 for Alex Gibbs, nine, from Peterborough who suffers from MPGN Type II, which cannot be cured and prevents him from receiving a transplant.

Barclays and Kidney Research UK will compete against Anglian Water, solicitors Roythornes, accountants Ensors and Greenwoods menswear.
