THE first Rutland osprey has flown back into the county after its long flight from west Africa.
The bird, known to staff as 5N, arrived at Rutland Water Nature Reserve this morning (Monday) and is visible from both Manton Bay and Lyndon.
It will stay at the reservoir for the summer to breed.
The arrival was a welcome surprise for staff who have been tracking another of the Rutland ospreys, 09, via a satellite tracking device as he travels north. He is currently flying over the Sahara Desert.
