CYCLING was celebrated during a weekend of events in Stamford.

Rutland Cycling organised the Stamford Cycling Festival, which included events on the Recreation Ground in Stamford on Saturday and activities at Stamford Arts Centre yesterday (Sunday).

Stamford Transition Town was also involved in organising the event, which aimed to promote the benefits of getting on your bike.

There were bikeability sessions run by Lincolnshire County Council, free bike checks and films shown at the arts centre based on cycling.

David Middlemiss, from Rutland Cycling, said: “We were all really pleased, first of all that the weather came out in our favour and secondly that so many people came.

“There were families out having a picnic and the whole weekend was really well received.

“It was the first of what everyone would like to see become a bigger annual event.”
