A manager has been forced to cancel Christmas dinner at his restaurant.
Paul Richardson, hotel and restaurant manager at Oundle Mill, Barnwell Road, Oundle, is still counting the cost after high waters from the River Nene flooded the restaurant.
He has now been forced to phone dozens of families who had booked to have their Christmas dinner to tell them the venue will be closed until into the new year.
Mr Richardson said: “We have been allowed into the building now but the river has damaged a lot of the building.
“We are now clearing the mess and the water out, and making sure the building is safe.
“It is devastating. It was going to be the busiest December on record for us, and we were fully booked for Christmas Day and New Year.
“We have been speaking to people who had booked with us to apologise that we will be closed. They all understood what has happened, and why it has been necessary to make the decision.”
He said there had been flooding in the past but not to the same extent.
