CROWDS were entertained by a flypast from a Spitfire at Kirkby Underwood summer fete on Saturday.
The flying visit from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight aircraft was the highlight of a fun-filled day at the village hall.
Chairman of the summer fete committee Louise Green said: “It was fantastic – I get goosebumps when I see it every time.
“We were very lucky with the weather which was a huge bonus and we were very happy with the turnout because there were a lot of things going on locally this weekend.”
About 100 people enjoyed the range of stalls, refreshments and games on offer which helped raise more than £1,000 to be split between St Mary and All Saints Church and the village hall fund.
Louise said: “We were very surprised that at a time when people only have a limited amount of money to spend on these type of things, that we did so well.”
