A priest is enjoying his retirement after serving Stamford for nearly 30 years.

Father Michael Ruff gave his last service as parish priest of St Mary’s and St Martin’s Church in Stamford on Sunday last week.

Father Ruff served the parish for seven years and was previously chaplain at Stamford School for 20 years.

His time at the churches was celebrated by parishioners at a joint party the week before his final service.

Father Ruff said: “It has been a wonderful seven years.

“The parishioners have all been very supportive and they gave a wonderful send off.”

Father Ruff plans to stay living in Stamford but also hopes to take some time to travel during his retirement.
