A FOOTBALL club fun day brought hundreds of people out to enjoy tournaments, a fun fair and an auction.

Blackstones FC, based in Lincoln Road, Stamford held the event on Saturday.

Tournaments for under 10, 11 and 12 players and senior teams were held and a funfair was provided by Taylor’s Amusements.

A barbecue was available all day and there were football skill games for anyone to try.

A band played later in the evening and an auction with a range of prizes had the clubhouse packed.

The day was sponsored by McDonalds of Ryhall Road, which donated two tickets to Sunday’s Community Shield at Wembley to the auction.

Club chairman Kevin Boor said: “It was a great success involving all sections of the club.

“We are now hoping to run it as a biannual event.”

The day raised more than £2,000 for the club.
