Two good causes have received a cash boost from the former mayor of Stamford.

Bob Sandall raised £4,840 during his time as mayor in 2012/13 and he presented cheques to Stamford ATC and the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance.

The causes are close to Coun Sandall’s heart as he was an air cadet when he was younger and the air ambulance assisted his friend Barry Daff following an accident.

The money was raised through a variety of functions including a ball and a dinner. He also asked for donations instead of presents for his 70th birthday.

Coun Sandall said: “I am extremely grateful to all the people who contributed towards the mayor’s charity.”
