FOUR friends are gearing up for a golf marathon to raise money for a cancer charity.

Carl Harris, from Stamford, Greg Dobbs, from Carlby, Leon Wyche, from Oakham and Graham Stenson, from Yaxley, will attempt to play 72 holes in one day at Greetham Valley Golf Club on June 22.

The quartet are hoping to raise £1,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

IT trainer Carl, 32, of Essex Road, said: “We are all members at the club and a number of our friends and family have been impacted by cancer.

“A couple of them have been fairly young and they have raised £15,000 which inspired us to put on a couple of events ourselves.

“We are all into golf so the challenge came along at the right time for us.

“The most I have ever played is about 36 holes so it’s going to be a fair challenge. I am sure we will all be crawling by the end but I am sure we will get a fair amount of support from friends and family.”
