GROUPS and sports teams from the area were offered help with fundraising at a special event on Thursday last week.

Voluntary Action Rutland hosted the Rutland Funding Fair at its premises in Lands’ End Way, Oakham, and invited all sorts of community groups to attend to find out about how they could raise some extra cash.

About 80 people attended and listened to presentations from MissionFish, The Big Lottery, The Heritage Lottery Fund and BBC Children In Need.

Organiser Nickie Philbin said: “The funders covered all parts of the community spectrum, offering funding opportunities from refurbishing village halls to youth clubs.

“It was a really informative afternoon, with some fabulous cakes provided by volunteers.”
