A YOUTH group has secured £1,000 of grant funding.
Ryhall Fun Squad has been given £500 by Ryhall Parish Council and £500 from the Leicestershire and Rutland Community Fund.
Rachel Miller, who runs the group, said the money would secure the future of the group for another year. It will be used for insurance and to buy more indoor equipment.
Rachel held a coffee afternoon on Friday last week in a bid to raise money for the group but only managed to collect £20.
She said: “It was disappointing to not raise more money at the event but it is good news we have this grant money.”
The group has been trialling sessions at the village hall on Wednesdays between 4.30pm and 6.30pm during the winter but will resume sessions at Ryhall Meadows Playing Fields on March 2 after the school break.
She said: “The concept doesn’t work indoors because the children want to run around outside and play games. The indoor sessions have been a bit chaotic so it would be good to get some more things for them to do. We do get about 20 children a week though.”
She is looking for more people to help run the sessions. Anyone interested should contact her on 01780 757477.
