TWO new noticeboards have been installed in a town thanks to funding from the police.

The boards have been put up in the Limes, Firs and Spurs area of Uppingham so that people can keep up to date with events and goings on in the town.

Chairman of the Limes, Firs and Spurs Residents’ Association David Ainslie said: “We are extremely grateful to Insp Kam Mistry and all the local police team for their great support in helping us to get these two noticeboards purchased and installed.

“Even though we are living in an electronic age people shouldn’t underestimate the continuing power of the written word and these two noticeboards will act as tangible focal points for the residents of this part of Uppingham.”

One board is at the junction of Lime Tree Avenue and Leicester Road and the other at the Ayston Road end of Firs Avenue.

Police and the residents’ association will update them regularly.
