THREE men have completed a gruelling 300-mile walk to raise money for a forces charity.

Doug Morrison, 51, of Primrose Way, Stamford, walked the whole of the Pennine Way with his brother-in-law Bill Bell, 56, and friend Andy Graham, 49, also from Stamford.

Doug’s son Luke, 24, lost part of his left leg in a roadside bomb blast in Afghanistan in February last year.

The three men took on the trek to raise money for the Afghanistan Trust which supports the Parachute Regiment, of which Luke was a member.

The group finished the walk on Sunday, 15 days after they started.

Doug said: “It was very tough and both physically and mentally challenging.

“All our feet were aching but it was the thought of what my son went through that kept us going.

“Nothing we went through could compare to that.”

Luke’s friends and family have also organised a three course meal and disco at The William Cecil in High Street St Martin’s, Stamford, to raise extra funds.
