THE funeral of a husband, wife and their youngest child has taken place.
Former Oakham policeman Toby Day, his wife Sam and their six-year-old daughter Genevieve were buried at St Peter and St Paul Church in Market Overton, following a service this morning (Monday).
About 100 family and friends packed into the tiny church for the service, which was led by the Rector of Oakham rector, Canon Lee Francis-Dehqani.
He said: “The sense of disbelief has not been lessened by the last few weeks.
“Today’s funeral is but one small step in helping the family to come to terms with their loss.”
Toby stabbed his children and wife before turning the knife on himself in an incident at their home in Melton Mowbray on December 8.
Kimberley Day, 15, and her brother Adam, 13, survived the attack and were present at the funeral.
