Christmas came to Uppingham for a night of shopping and festive activities last week.
The town hosted its Christmas market on Thursday, December 3. The town centre was full of people making the most of shops’ extended opening hours and buying their Christmas presents locally.
There was an ice rink, two craft fairs, a free concert in the methodist church and all manner of street performers from living Christmas trees to fire eaters.
Miranda Jones, who helped organise the event, said: “It went really well. We had a really good turnout despite the weather.
“I think most people had made their way into town before the rain hit, so that was good.”
Many of the town’s shops took part in a best-dressed window competition, making the town look even more festive.
“It was great to have the support of the town council, and the shops looked brilliant,” said Miranda.
“The whole thing was funded purely by the local businesses. And it was all run by community volunteers, which was fantastic.
“It was lovely.”
