The winners of a best kept allotment competition run by Stamford Town Council were awarded their prizes at an awards evening.

The competition has been run annually since 1976 and this year more than 40 allotment holders entered.

All the allotment gardeners who entered were invited to the event at the town hall.

The overall winner was first time entrant Neil Bamford.

The Open Cup was won by a team from Mencap and the Senior Citizens Shield was presented to Norman Bull.

The Novice Cup was awarded to Gary Shell. The competition was judged by deputy editor of Kitchen Garden Magazine Emma Rawlings.

The awards were sponsored by: Kitchen Garden Magazine, CGM, Burghley Estates, Wilkinsons, Tesco, Lambs, Wothorpe Nurseries, Morrisons, Thompson & Morgan and Mr Fothergills.
