Young guides packed shoppers’ bags on Sunday to raise money for two causes.
Members of the 4th Stamford ChristChurch Guides packed bags at Morrisons in Uffington Road, Stamford, and collected £454 which will be split between the Histiocytosis Research Trust and the girls’ camping trip this summer.
Guide leader Andrea Scholes, with her husband Paul, pledged to raise £10,000 for the HR Trust in memory of their son Oliver, who died last year aged two.
Andrea said: “The girls worked really hard all morning to raise as much money as possible.”
An Easter egg hunt in Stamford, organised by Libby and Barnaby Staniland, raised £160 towards the appeal.
Izzy, Joe and Seth Warner, of Stamford, won a £25 John Lewis voucher. Caitlin McIntyre, of Stamford, won Easter eggs and Eden and Heber Hassall, of Tallington, won a cuddly bunny.
The next fundraising event will take place on Saturday at The Rocking Horse Nursery in Rutland Road, Stamford. There will be stalls, a raffle, tombola and refreshments between 11am and 2pm.
