A COUPLE have been reunited with their dog which had been rescued by a pair of holidaymakers.
Mick and Norah Shell, of Western Avenue, Easton-on-the-Hill, have thanked a couple from Essex who picked up their lost golden retriever Ty.
He was spooked while on a walk with Mr Shell and the couple’s other dog Jess, in the village playing fields on Saturday evening by the arrival of a hot air balloon.
Both dogs ran off before Mr Shell could catch them.
The couple then began a search of the village.
Luckily Jess made her way back to the playing field but Ty was no where to be found.
He ran about three miles to the Duddington roundabout where a couple stopped and picked him up.
Ty, who had injured his paws, spent the night at Top Lodge, Fineshade Wood, in the couple’s caravan.
They contacted the dog warden and decided to take Ty back home to Essex with them.
Mr and Mrs Snell also contacted the dog warden on Sunday morning who had passed reports of a missing dog found by a couple at Fineshade.
Staff at the wood managed to get in contact with the couple who had travelled as far as Sawtry but turned around and headed back to return Ty.
Mrs Shell, who is urging hot air balloon operators to be more careful, said: “I am very glad we had a happy ending.”
