Places are still available for an information session on becoming a dementia friend.
Stevie Jackson of Home Straight and Ron Simpson of Uppingham First have organised the one-hour talk at The Falcon Hotel in Uppingham from 6pm tonight.
The session is part of the dementia friends programme, an initiative launched in February 2013 by the Alzheimer’s Society to help members of the public understand what it might be like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action. Alzheimer’s Society is aiming to have one million dementia friends by 2015.
Having volunteered to be a dementia friends champion, Stevie will deliver dementia friends sessions to people across Rutland over the coming months. She said: “I’m so proud to be part of a growing network of people helping to create dementia friendly communities across England.”
To book a place please e-mail Ron at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone 01572 495050. Go to dementiafriends.org.uk to find your nearest Dementia Friends information session.
