Lincolnshire County Council’s response scheme Telecare to be expanded

A 24-hour emergency response service for Lincolnshire’s older and disabled people could soon be available countywide.

A pilot is currently underway which involves Lincolnshire County Council’s in-home technology – known as Telecare – being installed for vulnerable people. If a call for help is then activated, a volunteer response service is on hand, 365 days a year.

Until the end of March, a trial is taking place in the Lincoln area with Lives First Responders visiting the person if their normal responder is unavailable.

Executive member for adult services at Lincolnshire County Council Graham Marsh (Con), said: “Telecare is a reassuring and simple system using a combination of alarms, sensors and other equipment to help people live more independently and remain in their own home for as long as possible.

“We hope this new pilot will pave the way for Telecare to be available to everyone later in the year.”

Anyone interested in Telecare can ask their social worker, nurse or doctor or call the county council on 01522 782155.
