Patients needed for new participation group

A doctors surgery is looking to set up a patient participation group for to get feedback to be able to make future improvements.

Staff at the Hereward Practice in Exeter Street, Bourne is looking to restart a group which will allow a wide demographic of the surgery’s users to have a say in how their doctors is run.

A GP at the practice, Dr Thomas Ashley-Norman, said: “Our practice runs for our patients so it is very important they have their say and we can work together to improve the service we can provide.

“Obviously there are parts to general practice that are always contentious nor will ever be perfect - for example opening hours or how long to wait for appointments.

“We are constantly trying to flex and bend with demand for these and I hope that a patient participation group will also be able to learn from us the challenges of providing these services.”

Dr Ashley-Norman added: “Our patients are in a unique position that we, as the doctors, don’t really get to experience and must have a lot of ideas to help evolve the practice into one that they can be very proud of.”

There be a drop-in event on Wednesday, November 28 from 6.30pm to 7.45pm at the practice, with drinks and nibbles for anyone interested in joining.
