A support group for people who suffer chronic pain will be marking its anniversary with a Holistic Fair.
Started by Christine Johnson, the Fibromyalgia support group was set up in Stamford in April 2013.
The milestone will be marked on May 4 at the United Reformed Church Hall, in Broad Street, Stamford, with the holistic fair.
From noon onwards therapists providing acupuncture, Reiki, herbal medicines, Indian head massage and osteopathy will be among the many experts on hand offering advice and suggestions for pain relief.
Fibromyalgia has no known cause, although it is believed it can be caused by trauma such as a major operation or car crash.
Christine, of Empingham Road, Stamford, who has the condition, as does daughter Hannah, 20, said: “It does not show up on x-rays or blood tests, but every part of your body hurts. No two days are the same. There is no set pattern. Many of the medication doesn’t work. By getting together at such events and joining the support group those affected can learn from each other about what works. It’s for people who have any kind of chronic pain including arthritis and back pain.”
The helpline for the support group is 08448872604.
